Try the sample survey

Measured records, reviewed dispersion picks, and a ready-to-open 2D section.

  1. Open the finished section

Extract the ZIP. In SeisSmith, select Section → Open Saved Section and open reviewed-field-section.sssection. This loads the nine reviewed profiles and their section immediately.

Nine measured-data shear-wave velocity profiles displayed as a section in dark-theme SeisSmith
  2. Explore a measured shot

Choose File → Open Shot Files and open raw/1010.dat. It is the unchanged 72-channel record: 1 m receiver spacing, 1 ms samples, and an 11 m source offset. Use receiver positions 0–71 m and source position −11 m. Set the displayed time window to 500 ms to inspect the arrivals.

  3. Review the processing

The nine files in prepared-windows already contain the reviewed stacks, 8–80 Hz filtering, receiver selection, and late-time zeroing. Each retains 32 active receivers across 31 m. Their SEG-2 headers contain local source and receiver coordinates.

Open these files separately from the raw shot. Use a 500 ms analysis window, build dispersion images, and compare your picks with accepted-picks.csv. Use Manual Picking, then Finish Manual Picking. These files do not automatically load the supplied picks or inversions.

  4. Inspect and export

The supplied layered-profiles.csv and profiles-and-processing.json retain the selected models, fits, and diagnostic flags. Reopen the saved section to adjust its scale and export a figure without repeating the inversion.

What the example shows

The October 1, 2025 survey contributes 25 impacts to nine source positions and 86 interpreted fundamental-mode picks. The compact download contains one original raw record plus nine prepared windows; the remaining raw impacts are not included.

Profiles represent overlapping 31 m apertures. The gray boundary marks a half-longest-picked-wavelength estimate of about 6.9–8.3 m, not a measured sensitivity boundary. The section is smoothed for display; the original models remain in the download. It does not establish Vs30 or a unique geological interpretation.

Full settings and limitations are in README.txt, processing-notes.md, and provenance.json.
